Northern Pin Oak (Quercus palustris)

Northern Pin Oak (Quercus palustris)

Pin oak reaches a mature size of 50 to 70 feet in height and 1 to 2 feet in diameter. The wood is hard and heavy and is used for rough lumber and firewood. The acorns are eaten by many different species of wildlife.  Pin oak is a popular landscape tree because of its fast growth, ease of transplanting, tolerance of urban stresses and good fall color. It grows along poorly drained river edges and floodplains, typically on clay soils.

If you think you have bad soil then this is a good tree choice for you.
