The persimmon is a very hardy wood. It is able to reach a mature size of 20 to 60 feet in height and 1 to 2 feet in diameter. It grows on a wide variety of sites including: sandy woods to moist river bottoms to rocky slopes. The wood is very hard and has been used for a number of different items. The fruit is eaten by humans, as well as by many other wildlife species.
